What is most important to you?
As we start the new season we always need to ensure we have the best or more importantly the right golf equipment in our hands.
So in my first newsletter I have a simple survey for you to complete. It will take you just a couple of minutes and one of you could win some golf balls.
So I would like to know, when you buy golf equipment do you buy based on brand, price of fit?
Let me know and I will give you the overall feedback in a couple of weeks time.
Take a look at my article below and or click here to complete my short survey.
Allan Knox your Golf Professional
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank all the members for your warm welcome to the club. I feel so lucky to be working at such a beautiful and prestigious Golf Club like Aberdour.
I would also like to wish David Gemmell good luck in his new role at Turnhouse GC, David was very helpful upon me taking the role here at Aberdour. For the members, change can be unsettling and I appreciate your patience during this time of transition and will be up and running as soon as I can.
A bit about me:
I am 35 with a young family; my wife Michelle, son Ben (11) and daughter Emma (6). Ben is a budding golfer and Emma is keen to follow in her brothers footsteps. They will both be involved in the exciting new junior program I have planned for Aberdour.
During my career I have been lucky enough to work at some unique golf clubs, starting at open qualifier Dunbar GC where I played my junior golf then went on to work in the shop for 2 years under the supervision of Club Professional Derek Small. During my time at Dunbar I worked and played alongside European Tour player David Drysdale which was great for my experience at such a young age. I then moved from friends and family to pursue my career at Crieff Golf Club under David Murchie PGA Chairman, I worked for 8 years here and developed my passion for teaching. During my 8 years, I was able to oversee and develop some talented juniors, some getting to international level and others turning Professional, this has to be one of my proudest achievements!
I was then lucky enough to get my first Head Pro's job at King James VI GC, here I spent 8 years meeting some interesting characters and making some great friends. Working through difficult economic times I managed to grow my business and continue developing my teaching from coaching beginners to PGA Professional's. It was difficult to leave King James but chances like this don't come along very often and getting the opportunity to work at Aberdour GC was something I couldn't refuse.
I'm sure by now most of you will have met Colin my right-hand man. Colin is a keen and very enthusiastic golfer and has had over 30 year's retail experience. He like me when offered the chance to come and work at Aberdour jumped at the opportunity. Also, I do feel it's only right to let the members know you now have two devoted Dons fans working in the shop! Apologies for this!
We look forward to seeing you all in the shop.
