Hello everyone,
The rain has finally arrived to keep Mark and the boys happy! There is a busy week ahead kicking off with the annual Rotary Competition and then on to the Mixed Texas Scramble Open on Sunday which is fully booked.
The Junior FitGolf stage 2 starts on Saturday and I'm happy to say the uptake has been great with 30 Juniors taking part, I'm really excited to see how they progress.

A message from your Match Secretary Steve Brand
As you know, when the 2017 Fixture List was being formulated, the Match Committee were asked by the Head Greenkeeper to place a definitive cut-off point on the tee off times for midweek Senior Medals. This was to allow Mark and his team to perform their duties during the course of the day without having to worry about the impact any work would have on altering the playing conditions during the competition.
When Senior Medals were first introduced, it was on the understanding that only morning tee times were available and therefore Mark's request did not seem to be unreasonable.
Since taking this decision, the committee have received a lot of feedback from Senior members, most of it well thought out and helpful, some of it unnecessarily aggressive and, from the constructive points raised, we have re-evaluated the situation. In doing so, we discussed the matter at length during our committee meetings, and we also sought clarification from the R&A because of the ambiguous nature of the CONGU regulations relating to the alteration of course conditions for competition play.
As a result, we have reached the decision to allow play after the ringfenced tee times (08:30 - 10:50) effective from the next midweek Senior Medal on Thursday, 25 May. Mark and his team will be able to carry out their work on the course during the competition with the only stipulation from the R&A being that tee and pin positions cannot be moved.
No further times will be set aside, but any members wishing to play after 10.50 a.m. may book their tee times 6 days prior to the medal using the club website or via the Pro Shop. Members who choose to play after 10.50 a.m. must report to the Pro Shop to check-in, and there must be no more than three players per tee time.
Well Done Craig
Long-time Aberdour member Craig Hempseed will soon be embarking on an exciting summer through his day job as a greenkeeper which will see him rub shoulders with the cream of the professional golf world.
Craig, who in his younger days was on the green keeping staff at Aberdour, will be working at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth (25-28 May) and The 146th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale (20-23 July).
No doubt it will be a great experience for Craig and we wish him all the best.
