Club news

Seasonal Job Vacancy Part Time

Aberdour Golf Club Professional Allan Knox is looking for someone to join his team to help run a busy pro shop. An interest in golf is preferred but not essential.

This part time role is for Friday-Saturday-Sunday 14+ hours per week. More hours could be available along with start and finish time flexibility.

Job Summary
To provide excellent customer service, assist in the smooth running of the Golf Shop and golf course and follow the correct booking and monetary procedures.

Duties include:
- Welcoming members, guests, and visitors to the club.
- Retail Sales
- Taking payment for Green Fees & Buggies
- Booking tee times, golf lessons and custom fitting appointments.
- Handling incoming telephone bookings / enquiries
- Replenishing Stock
- Ensuring the Golf Shop is always well presented and clean.
- Assist with the collection and putting away of golf buggies.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic IT skills
- Some golf knowledge is desirable
- Previous retail experience would be helpful
- Flexible approach to your role
- Ability to work effectively daily with limited supervision
- Punctuality

Saturday Coaching

It was a fun packed afternoon on Saturday starting with a gruelling bleep test and well done to all the kids they all put in some great effort. Then onto some great distance control work with wedges, then we ended with a (melted!!) Easter egg hunt.

Well done to this week’s players of the week Andrew, Seb and Harrison!

Senior Gents Team

Well done to the Aberdour GC Senior Gents Team on a 4 - 2 win at home to Kinross in yesterday’s friendly match. The Spring Cup was the qualifier for the Gents Senior Club Championship with the best 8 and ties from the Seniors contesting the Matchplay.

Gent's Senior Club Championship 2019

All players are mutually responsible for arranging ties within the designated time period. it is the responsibility of each pair to post the match result on the results sheet on the senior noticeboard in the gents locker room.

The date and time of the final is FIXED - Saturday 15th June at aprrox. 2pm.

Out Of The Fire And Into The Pan

C.T Pan secured a popular victory at the RBC Heritage over the weekend, propelling himself from outside the world’s top 100 into the top 55 in a matter of four days.

It was only last week that Pan was watching Tiger Woods sweep to victory at The Masters on TV whilst dreaming of competing himself, and now that dream is a reality after a tense one-shot victory at the stunning Harbour Town Golf Links in South Carolina.

Some of that tension was released thanks to a Sunday back-nine blow-up from Masters runner-up and overnight leader Dustin Johnson. The American played holes 11 to 15 in seven-over-par, ending any chance of victory and further cementing himself as the world number one.

Pan sank a nine-foot birdie on the 16th to take the outright lead and held his nerve to claim his maiden PGA Tour title by one shot from Matt Kuchar.

Another way to gain distance

On the face of it, the mechanics of golf are really quite simple: the further you hit the ball, the easier it will be to get the white thing into the hole in the fewest shots.
