Saturday Coaching It was a fun afternoon in all weathers! Lessons in the warm sunshine then the kids and parents were caught in a hailstorm on the course but stayed out, a brave bunch!
|
Well done to this week’s players of the week Jack, Rory and Kyle. |
We are trying to arrange hoodies for the kids, the cost will be £5 and the club junior funds will cover the rest of the payment. The coaching is on again this Saturday, could any kids that haven’t tried on a top yet please do so on then, thanks. |
Latest Update A reminder to members that any vouchers won at the Annual Prizegiving in November will expire on the 17th May so, if you haven't already done so, look them out and cash them in with the pro shop or the club.
A play-off will be required to decide the winner of the Spring Cup after Stewart Gorman and Rod Grant fired matching nett 62 scores in Saturday's competition.
Sheila Page won the S.L.G.A Brooch to add to last week's Wednesday Stableford success, again shooting an unbeatable nett 70 in the Ladies section.
In the first Junior medal of the year, Jack Small scored a three shot victory in the Bellhouse Trophy 1st Round.
In the Gents section, we trialled an increased sweep entry last weekend and several grumbles were recorded by the pro shop as some members objected to the change. This weekend will be the second and final week of the trial and we would ask members to record their preference on the sheet provided before teeing off.
The Moubray Cup is completely full at the moment for Saturday, and there is an extensive waiting list which is being controlled by the pro shop. If you can no longer play, please let the guys know ASAP to allow others to enter.

Daily Mail Foursomes
The draws have now been made for the 3rd Round of the Daily Mail Foursomes competition.
Our Ladies, represented by Anne Farquharson and Ann Matheson, face a trip to Dunfermline GC. Dave Ritchie and Jim Pearston will host Burntisland GHC in the Mens event. Both ties to be played by 19th May.
|
Senior Club Championship
Last weekend's Spring Cup competition was also the qualifying event for the Senior Club Championship, with the top 8 Scratch scores (plus ties) making it through.
Nine players qualified and so an elimination tie is required before the Quarter-Finals begin. David Gourdie and Andrew Hubble, who grabbed the final two places, will play-off for that slot on Monday afternoon.
Rod Grant shot a 72 to grab the number 1 seed, and he will face the play-off winner in the last eight.
Reigning champion Stuart Meiklejohn will play Dick Campbell who was runner-up in last season's Walker Trophy. In the bottom half of the draw, Donald Dawe will take on Willie Crowe, while Colin Gray meets Peter Hempseed.
The deadline for Quarter-Final ties is Sunday, 26th May, the last four must be completed by Sunday, 9th June and the fixed date for the final is Saturday, 15th June.

Be honest, how much thought do you put into the golf ball that you play? Probably not as much you do your clubs but considering the ball is in play on every single shot, using any old thing that you find at the bottom of your bag could be leaving you paddling uphill. |
| Which Titleist ball to play? |
|
The first question to ask is: What do you want from your ball? Obviously, getting the thing in the hole in as few shots as possible is the ultimate goal, but there are many paths to getting there. There are balls that offer impressive distance, such as the Titleist Velocity, whilst others that provide incredible feel, such as DT TruSoft. But if you are looking for total performance without sacrificing on any one element, Titleist's Pro V1, Pro V1x and AVX balls are truly phenomenal. With subtle differences between each, this is where having a chat with a member of our PGA qualified team will have you leaving with the best ball for your game - what will yours be? |
