Saturday Coaching

It was a great afternoon with the juniors on Saturday enjoying our new FitGolf mini course, we saw some amazing shots, a few birdies and great long putting.

The course record now stands at 12 from Kyle, very impressive! Also well done again to Kyle this week’s winner of the 4 hole competition and to the players of the week Andrew, Neeson, Rohan and Alexander!

The course has been made for the juniors but I would like to challenge any members to come and have a try so we can get a course record and a leaderboard going, the winner at the end of June will receive a prize. Just check into the pro shop before you go out.

Cantlay On Top At Jack’s house

American Patrick Cantlay shot his lowest ever final round in his PGA Tour career to take a two-shot victory over Adam Scott at the Memorial Tournament on Sunday.

A bogey-free 64 saw the 27-year-old finally close out with a win after a series of top tens in recent weeks, including a T3 at the PGA Championship. Going five-under-par through the front nine on Sunday, it seemed the only way Cantlay could throw this one away would be to beat himself but after Jack Nicklaus advised him to “figure out how to play those last 30 minutes,” a blow-up was never a likely occurrence.

A further three birdies on the back-nine saw the American sweep past the returning-to-form Martin Kaymer and Adam Scott to claim his second PGA Tour title and move into the world’s top ten.

Time for a little reflection

Who doesn’t love the month of June? Long evenings, blistering sunshine (might be a little optimistic here) and plenty of opportunities to hit the course. With much of the season left to go and more competitions on the horizon, it’s time to take note of how you’ve been playing so far this year.

Hopefully, you've been playing regularly to your handicap or, better still, shooting under it. If that’s the case then happy days, keep up the good work!

But we all know there’s room for improvement.
