Welcome to our first newsletter of 2021! Happy New Year everyone I hope you're all well and keeping safe, a strange start to the year with new lockdown measures in place but we have to take the positives that golf courses in Scotland can remain open. The course has been hit hard with the current cold snap and I’ve attached some pictures so you can see how bad it’s been, we are all looking forward to some milder weather so we can get the course back open again. Here is the message from the club with regards to the new rules... "With pressure on tee times already considerable, and available daylight at a premium at this time of year, the club have taken the difficult decision to restrict the number of rounds per week to two for each member. Despite the administrative hours required to do so, the club will be running regular reports to ensure that no player features more than twice per week (Monday - Sunday) on the tee sheet. Any player who breaches the two round maximum will have their playing privileges suspended for one week. Repeat offenders will face more severe sanctions. As previously, and to ensure the club complies with COVID protocols, all names should be entered at the time of booking. To further increase availability of tee times, all competition play will be suspended for the rest of this month, as will all other pre-booked tee times (e.g. Ladies Sweep and Sunday Sweep). The Match Committee will provide a further update on competitions in due course. Also, we will reduce the tee intervals to 8 minutes (instead of 10 minutes) for the period where two-balls are the maximum permitted. Additionally, the provision for member’s guests will be suspended until further notice. The club has already communicated that no visitors would be permitted during the winter period, and this has now been extended to include guests. Members can play their part in ensuring as many players as possible get a game of golf at Aberdour. For example, rather than playing as an individual (although we know that due to family members shielding, etc in this pandemic it may be unavoidable), volunteer to share your tee time with another player. Or, if you are in the fortunate position to be able to play on any day of the week, avoid booking weekend tee times to allow those who work Monday-Friday to get out for a hit on a Saturday or Sunday. If you have an existing booking for the rest of this week, you will need to ensure that a maximum of two names are on the booking. Please remove names as necessary to meet the two player maximum. If you'd like to get in touch about anything golf-related, reply to this email or give us a call. Enjoy the read.
